On June 8, the SAIF Board of Directors re-elected Jenny Ulum as board chair and Kevin Jensen as vice chair.

Under the board's leadership this past year, SAIF hired a new CEO and embarked on significant projects to invest in the company's future, most notably a renovation of its Salem headquarters.

Ulum is the managing director of strategic communications at King Estate Winery in Eugene. She has deep experience in communications and public policy issues, and her civic contributions include service on the boards of Oregon Public Broadcasting, United Way of Lane County, Relief Nursery, and the Eugene Chamber of Commerce. She joined the SAIF board on September 19, 2014.

Prior to his retirement, Jensen was the business manager for Ironworkers Local 29 in Portland. An Oregon native, Jensen previously worked as an ironworker and foreman (responsible for employee safety, among other things) on several large construction projects around the Northwest. Jensen joined the SAIF board on February 1, 2014.

Appointed by the governor to four-year terms, SAIF's board represents a cross-section of the workers' comp system. They represent organized labor, policyholders, the legal profession, and associations. The other board members are:

• Krishna Balasubramani, a partner at Sather, Byerly, and Holloway, LLP, in Portland
• Maurice Rahming, president of O'Neill Electric in Portland
• Jeff Stone, executive director and CEO of the Oregon Association of Nurseries in Wilsonville
