How to build momentum for your safety and health program
Now’s the time to start setting goals for the next 12 months. These resources can help.
By Brian Sornson, State Agency Operations Supervisor
With the next fiscal and policy year beginning July 1, now is a great time to energize your safety and health program and start planning goals and activities for the next 12 months.
These resources can help:
Be a leader
Creating an injury-free workplace takes everyone working together in a positive and supportive environment. On our safety and health website, you’ll find tools to help you establish a safety committee, practice safety leadership, identify hazards, respond to accidents, and more. Plan a 10-minute safety talk. Every month we post a new topic. Got a few minutes? Take our Safety Break quiz!
Take 3 in 30 Challenge
Getting the word out on safety within your organization can be easy and fun. Consider OSHA’s “Take 3 in 30 Challenge” where you take three actions in 30 days to demonstrate leadership in safety and health. Once your activities are complete, broadcast your success on social media or internally, then claim a challenge coin. Add some friendly competition by challenging others!
Making Safety Personal
Download this fun, hands-on activity that literally “frames” workplace safety from a personal perspective by getting managers and workers thinking and talking about why safety matters to them.
Safe + Sound Week
OSHA’s Safe + Sound Week, August 12-18, is a nationwide event to celebrate the success of organizations who have implemented safety and health programs. In the Safe + Sound archives, you can view prior participants, partners, media, proclamations, and fact sheets from around the nation.
As always, SAIF and your aligned senior safety management consultants are here to help with additional ideas and resources.
