For the third year in a row SAIF is the healthiest employer in Oregon in its category, according to a survey cosponsored by the Portland Business Journal.
Employers are honored for programs ranging from on-site fitness training, to corporate participation in events, to reimbursements for weight-loss and smoking cessation. SAIF finished at the top of the category of companies with 500 to 1,500 employees.
SAIF's program mirrors the Total Worker Health® approach it promotes to its customers. Total Worker Health® is the integration of all-around health and wellness with safety and health on the job.
"It seems like a no-brainer that ... SAIF ... would be an enthusiastic proponent of health and fitness," the Journal wrote. "But there was an ancillary benefit-spirits have never been higher," and "... the greatest improvement came from the top 20 percent of high-risk individuals."
"It's rewarding to see our corporate strategy, policyholder programs, and our internal employee programs all coming together to accomplish our goals," said Renae Coombs, SAIF's human resources manager. "Making Oregon the safest and healthiest state can only happen if we are leading the cause."
Other first-place winners are Grand+Benedicts, Leatherman Tool, and Samaritan Health Services--all of which are SAIF policyholders.
