For the second year in a row and the third time in five years, SAIF has been named Oregon's Healthiest Employer in a survey sponsored by the Portland Business Journal.
SAIF finished first among businesses with 500 to 1,499 employees. It also finished first in 2014 and 2012, and placed third in 2011 and 2013.
"Encouraging small changes in how people physically function throughout the work day has been a growing focus at SAIF," the Journal wrote in its profile of SAIF, "The trick now...is keeping up with an enthusiastic workforce."
"We've come to realize that a lot of things that companies do - like flexible schedules, mental health care, financial health training, sleep and stress seminars, and work/life balance - benefit wellness," said Renae Coombs, SAIF's human resources manager. "It's become a more holistic approach, and we see wellness influencing more initiatives that really improve overall health."
The other top finishers were Meredith Corp., Leatherman, and United Way of the Columbia-Willamette.
