Employer-paid benefits

Employer-paid benefits are those benefits paid by SAIF on your behalf. SAIF will automatically enroll eligible employees in these benefits. 

Lyra Health 

SAIF's mental health platform provides free, confidential outside counseling and coaching for you and your dependents. Each person is allowed twelve free visits per year. The program also offers resources for specific life solutions.

Basic life and accidental death & dismemberment insurance 

Basic life and AD&D insurance are equal to an employee's annual salary rounded to the next highest $1,000, up to $750,000. 

Short-term disability insurance

Short term disability (STD) insurance from The Standard Insurance Company provides financial protection for regular employees who work 20 or more hours per week. Short term disability insurance pays a percentage of your weekly earnings should you become temporarily disabled, meaning you are not able to work for a short period due to sickness or injury. Prior to benefits being issued, your claim must be approved by The Standard. The cost of this insurance is paid by SAIF.

Weekly benefit: 60 percent of the first $2,500 of weekly pre-disability earnings, reduced by deductible income (e.g. work earnings, workers' compensation, state disability, etc.).

Maximum weekly benefit an employee may receive: $1,500

How to file an STD claim
Employees will call The Standard (800-368-2859) to start their claim. The Standard will ask the employee a series of questions (mostly demographic information such as name, date of birth, last active date at work, etc.). The Standard will also reach out to the employee's medical provider (via fax) to confirm more details about their medical condition and may contact SAIF Human Resources (via email) for additional employment demographic information if needed.

Long-term disability insurance

After 90 days of a verified total disability, long-term disability insurance is available at 60 percent of the employee's gross monthly salary as follows:

Class 1: Full-time employees earning an insurable income of $200,000 or more

Class 2: All other eligible employees

Providing on-site health care gives employees and family members convenient access to quality care, saves time, and reduces your out-of-pocket expenses. The Health and Wellness Center is available at no cost to all SAIF employees and their dependents covered by one of SAIF's medical plans.
